In the twenty-second century, humanity had become the master of its domain. The WaFT provided for every material need and powered whole cities from a single station. Governments had slowly grown redundant as corporations took up the mantle of resource management. At the center of the new prosperity was the Sorensen Conglomerate, lavishly spread out beneath its great shield dome on the planet Mars. Under Sorensen’s leadership, it seemed Utopia was at hand— for those who could afford it.

But there was a darker side to the new gilded age—though the company saw to its workers’ needs, it expected nothing less than absolute submission from them. Minimalism for the throngs of laborers in the subterranean caverns contrasted with the grandeur afforded the bourgeoisie elite in their soaring towers. For those few workers not lulled into submission, the disparity was a call to arms and stoked the fires of revolution.

For Noah Sorensen, son of the richest man in the solar system, the escalating conflict would come into stark relief as he assumed his place in the family company and began to learn of worlds far different than he could imagine, right beneath his feet.
